River Rede Improvements Tender

Revitalising Redesdale Landscape Partnership are seeking to appoint contractors to deliver a programme of improvements to the River Rede and its tributaries. This work is to strengthen the role of the river Rede as an ecological network by improving water quality and habitat availability for wildlife, particularly the Freshwater Pearl Mussel (FWPM).

River improvement works have been identified which will focus on the greatest threats to the FWPM population on the River Rede; pollution, siltation and geomorphological pressures. The improvement works have been developed in partnership with the Environment Agency (EA), Natural England (NE) and Tyne Rivers Trust (TRT). Northumberland Wildlife Trust (NWT) are the lead organisation and will award this contract. This tender aims to identify a contractor to put these improvements in place over a five year period from April 2018 onwards. Further details of the contract can be found here:
