The Redesdale Ramblers were awarded £648 to create a printed and digital leaflet of walks for the Corsenside area. They are working on install corresponding waymarkers along the routes to help guide locals and visitors alike.
We have an abundance of tourists attracted to surrounding more well-known areas such as the Roman Wall or passing through on the A68 on their way to Scotland. We have actually met people who were staying in Corsenside but who were travelling to other areas in Northumberland for walking because they just do not know what is here. We have also found people living locally who may have relocated here later in life who also do not know their own area. With this in mind and using our knowledge of the Rights of Way in this area we have put together some colour coded Trails that should have something to appeal to everyone.

Walk 1: Health Walk – For those not used to walking or who haven’t walked for some time, this is a short easy walk with no stiles but still allows you to take in some lovely views of the valley.
Walk 2: Children’s Wildlife Walk – An excellent family walk. Look out for herons, buzzards, and kingfishers as you walk along the Rede, and don’t forget to pack a picnic!
Walk 3: Valley Ramble – This is a longer day ramble that takes in the wider countryside around Corsenside, with excellent views down the Lisle’s Burn towards East and West Woodburn.
Walk 4: Historical Walk – Take a walk through time from the Roman Fort at Habitancum to the bronze age burial site of Bell Knowe and on to the remains of Ridsdale’s 19th century Ironworks. For historical notes to this walk, see or download the Redesdale Ramblers’ accompanying leaflet.
Due to their popularity the initial print run of the walk leaflet ran out in 2022 but with the permission of the Redesdale Ramblers, the content was transferred into a format to match the 5 new walk leaflets which were developed for Redesdale area in 2022, and published and distributed in early 2023.
