Natural England is a non-departmental public body in the United Kingdom sponsored by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. It is responsible for ensuring that England’s natural environment, including its land, flora and fauna, freshwater and marine environments, geology and soils, are protected and improved. It also has a responsibility to help people enjoy, understand and access the natural environment.

Northumberland National Park Authority is a conservation organisation. National Park status is the highest form of landscape protection in the UK. Of the 11 National Parks in England and Wales, Northumberland is the most northerly, most remote from large urban areas, least visited and least populated.

Northumberland Wildlife Trust is a charity dedicated to saving wildlife and wild places and helping people to get closer to nature. We manage over 60 nature reserves, including Benshaw Moss, Whitelee Moor National Nature Reserve and The Haining in Redesdale. We help to create wildlife-rich landscapes and seas by working in partnership with other organisations, landowners, communities and volunteers.

Tyne Rivers Trust is the only independent environmental charity dedicated to improving the Tyne Catchment. We work with people and communities to protect and enhance the River Tyne and its tributaries, so they are healthy, biodiverse, and an asset for present and future generations. We can only achieve this by working with others, and as a charity we are reliant on financial support. We need people to support us and get involved.

The parish of Rochester with Byrness lies at the northern end of the Rede Valley in Northumberland. Its northern edge borders on Scotland, to the south lies the parish of Otterburn, on the eastern side the landscape is dominated by the Ministry of Defence ranges and to the west lie the hills separating the Rede Valley from North Tynedale. The Parish Council of Corsenside lies along a stretch of the River Rede where the river has cut a deep valley through the moorland of the county. The parish is made up of many isolated farms and dwellings and the communities of West, Middle, and East Woodburn and the village of Ridsdale. The Woodburns lie in the deep valley of the Rede and above the valley you will find Ridsdale, a village with a long mining and industrial heritage. Parish Council website
