Archaeological Excavation of Iron Age/Romano-British Settlement

As part of the ‘Lost Redesdale’ Community Archaeology Project, and in partnership with the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), Operation Nightingale and Breaking Ground Heritage, we will be carrying out an excavation of an Iron Age/Romano British settlement in the Yatesfield area of the Otterburn Training Area. The excavation will involve community volunteers working together with volunteers from the military community, as part of the Operation Nightingale project for Wounded, Injured and Sick military veterans and serving personnel.

No previous experience is necessary and all tools and equipment will be provided. Booking essential.

Please note, the excavation is located on a military training area, so you will be required to attend a safety briefing before taking part.
