Join Groundwork’s Lesley Silvera to find out about a pioneering local project that’s bringing farmers, naturalists and scientists together to help Upper Wansbeck’s farms be more resilient.
Lesley’s engaging talk will present the innovative nature-based solutions being trialled, revealing why leaky dams help water quality, how wider hedgerows provide better foraging, which native upland plants make the best hay and why gas flux monitoring is not just a lot of hot air. You’ll be introduced to the project’s people – as well as the colourful plants, animals and insects that are thriving on the Wallington Hall, Middleton North and Little Harle estates as a result – through the visual diary being captured by local photographer Chris Woodcock. Lesley is keen to share this exciting project in a creative and inspirational way, with the help from artists, writers and thinkers.
