‘Lost Redesdale’ Community Archaeology Project and the Festival of Archaeology 2019 invite you to take part in an excavation of an Iron-Age/Romano-British enclosed settlement at Ratteraw Farm.
No previous experience is required as all necessary training will be provided. There will be opportunities to learn excavation and soil sampling techniques, including handling of artefacts and how to age a settlement of this type. This event is part of the Festival of Archaeology 2019. If you would like to find out about more festival events, click here.
Children are welcome if accompanied by a responsible adult.
You can attend as many days you wish, or just come along to one or two if you can’t commit to more than that.
This is a FREE Revitalising Redesdale event, supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
