Join us for a short guided walk from Rochester to Bremenium Roman fort and the Petty Knowes Roman Cemetery to learn about this Roman outpost and the recent archaeological excavations which have been undertaken by community volunteers as part of the Revitalising Redesdale Lost Redesdale project. Walk length approx 1.5 miles on rough fields and tracks.

Meet at the ‘Roundhouse’ Rochester next to the ‘Rochester Relish’ Last Cafe in England but please do not park in the cafe car park. Parking is available outside the village hall opposite.

Please come prepared for rain sun wind & wear stout footwear or walking boots, a reasonable level of fitness required as there are uphill stretches.
Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Well behaved dogs are welcome on leads.

If this walk whets your appetite for Romano British archaeology then you might be interested in volunteering on one of our dig days planned for High Rochester between 5 and 17 September, excluding Sunday 11th. Keep an eye out on our What’s On pages for info.
